Students For Liberty, the world’s largest international pro-liberty student organization, successfully completed an academic and interactive program titled “The Discourse on Liberty and Human Respect in Freedom of Expression: Towards a Responsible Society.”

The event was held on December 14, 2025, at Sagarmatha College.

The program brought together students, young leaders, and emerging thinkers to discuss liberty, freedom of expression, regulation, and human respect in today’s society. At a time when digital media and social polarization strongly shape public debate, the discussion focused on how people can express their views freely while still respecting human dignity and social harmony.

The event was based on the idea that coercion, intimidation, and force reduce human happiness and weaken cooperation in society. Speakers and participants highlighted that freedom of expression also carries ethical responsibility, and that respectful dialogue is essential for a healthy and free society.

The program was divided into four sessions.

The first session discussed the meaning of liberty and freedom of expression in open societies.

The second session examined laws and regulations related to speech and the risks of excessive control.

The third session focused on human respect, stressing persuasion over force and dignity over domination in public discourse.

The final session included workshops and paper presentations, where participants shared research, ideas, and practical experiences.

Participants actively took part in discussions, case studies, and group activities. The program encouraged reasoned disagreement, respectful communication, and voluntary cooperation.

Many students also presented academic papers and exchanged ideas on media ethics, civic responsibility, and leadership.

Overall, the event helped participants better understand responsible freedom of expression and ethical civic engagement. Students gained clarity on the true meaning of liberty, learned about the social harm caused by coercion, and strengthened their ability to communicate respectfully.

Students For Liberty said the program was a meaningful step toward building a more responsible, respectful, and free civic culture led by informed youth.
